2012 Saxy Syrah

Nestled in the Sierra Foothills near the town of Volcano is Bailey's Vineyard, a carefully tended and nurtured vineyard, yeilding some of the best Syrah grapes in Northern California. For years it has produced wine that has been the winner of numerous Gold medals and awards. We were fortunate enough to acquire the fruit from this vineyard in 2011. The quality of the fruit was outstanding, yielding lush flavors of dark stone fruits with blackberry and blueberry characteristics in a lush, deep, textural palette of flavors.  Syrah in the best sense of the word. SAXY? You bet!

Vineyards: Bailey's Vineyard has produced such award winning Syrahs as Four Vines and Renwood. It is a great family owned parcel in Volcano, California. Ken & Gaylene Bailey began selling their fruit to us in 2011 and we are proud to release the first vintage from this illustrious and lovingly tended vineyard.

The Wine: The wine was bin fermented in half ton fermenting bins. Four different yeasts were used, yielding a structurally complex, big, rich Syrah. Oak program: Aged in a combination of French and American oak, about 75% new oak.
